Foundation Review: Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation in Sunny Beige

After facing the fact that I cannot solely survive on concealer alone, I set out to find the perfect foundation. Browsing the aisles at Sephora, I decided to try Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer - Oil Free ($55 CDN). I found the coverage wasn't enough and that it was hard for me to find an exact match for my skin. So I decided to try their Oil Free Foundation.

I have combination skin (dry/oily) so my goal was to find a foundation that wasn't too oily and not drying either. There are day when my cheeks are dry, so I wouldn't want that to be emphasized by the wrong foundation. (I'll have another post on choosing the right type of foundation later on.)

Besides the high price of $55 CDN (plus tax), this foundation is perfect. I have tried MAC Studio Fix Fluid, and found that it was too yellow for me. I've also used tinted moisturizers, but those are too sheer for my needs. I don't have much to cover up though, just some past acne scarring.

What I like the most from Laura Mercier's foundation is the perfect coverage; it's buildable according to your preference/needs. It was also really easy for me to find my shade, I just grabbed two shades and tried them in store and found that they can both work for me. My boyfriend couldn't tell I had makeup on!

I've applied with both a foundation brush and a wet wedge sponge, but found that the best way to apply this foundation is with your fingers. I applied it like I would apply my tinted moisturizer. As for setting the foundation, I use any powder, pressed or loose. Just a light dusting of it.

All I'd need is 3/4 of a pump, so I know it will last me a long time.

Of course I'd still look around for a cheaper alternative, but for now I'm sticking with this foundation, because the price is worth the quality. The bf always compliments me on my skin!

Let me know if you tried it!
