DIY: Fix broken lipstick

I have a bunch of broken lipsticks from my internship that I got to keep for free--they were used in shoots and they were going to throw them out! So naturally, a poor unemployed person like me would try and salvage them.

***I apologize for the poor photo quality (taken with my iPhone 3G), my camera batteries were charging!

Here's how it goes--

You'll need: broken lipstick(s), paper towel, lighter/match, rubber band(s) (optional), glove (optional)
Of course I have to fix these! My phone camera doesn't do the colours justice.. sorry!

Step 1: Separate the broken pieces and twist the lipstick all the way up. You can use your glove, or just clean hands. I don't recommend paper towel/tissue as they may deposit lint on your lipstick!

Step 2: Heat the lipstick base with a lighter/match to create a new foundation for the broken piece to adhere to.

Step 3: Place the broken piece on top and gently press down.

TIP: You can use a tealight candle instead of a lighter/match. A quick whiff of the gas lighter freaked me out so up my lazy butt went to find a tealight candle!

Repeat Step 2, that is, heat up the lipstick to create an adhesive space for the next broken piece (if you have more than one, that is!).

Voila! You have repaired your broken lipstick!

TIP: After mending the two pieces together, continually rotate the lipstick above the candle for about 10 seconds; this should help smoothen the rough edges.

FINAL STEP: Let the lipstick(s) chill and set in the refrigerator for 20 - 30 minutes. You'll need the rubber bands to hold the lipsticks together if you have more than one!

And that's it! After it sets, it's ready to go! Enjoy!
