I've been going snowboarding every Sunday since the new year started and thank gosh my skincare products have been keeping up. The cold, dry weather can take a toll on your skin especially when participating in outdoor sports. Here's a list of products to help you look and feel great while shredding the slopes.
FOR YOUR FACE
Moisturizer with SPF
Since your skin tends to become drier during these winter months, a creamy moisturizer does the trick. Make sure your moisturizer contains SPF 15 at the least, especially if you're day boarding/skiing. You want to minimize the damage of the sun on your skin, especially in those high altitudes. Don't forget to apply some on your neck as well!
Splurge: Clinique Superdefense SPF 25 Age Defense Moisturizer Dry Combination, $43
Save: Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture SPF 35, $10.99
If you want to cover up blemishes but don't like the idea of makeup rubbing off on your fleece face mask, why not try a lighter option? A tinted moisturizer adds more protection on your skin, as well as offer sheer coverage. If it has SPF content, it's a total bonus.
Splurge: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer - Oil Free, $42
Save: CoverGirl CG Smoothers SPF 15 Tinted Moisture
FOR YOUR LIPS
Lipbalm with SPF
Avoid cracked, dry lips by using a moisturizing lip balm with at least SPF 15. Keep your lips kissable by applying it liberally before you hop on the ski lift, and reapply anytime your lips feel like they need moisture. Your lips will thank you at the end of the day.
Splurge: fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15, $22.50
Save: Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25, $7.50; Blistex Complete Moisture
FOR YOUR BODY
Sunscreen (at least SPF 15)
If you're going day boarding/skiing, make sure you pack a bottle of sunscreen in your bag. Apply it liberally on your hands and any other exposed body parts. Your hands are often neglected and it will show as you age. Help them stay smooth by always using sunscreen.
Splurge: Shiseido Extra Smooth Sun Protection Lotion SPF 38 PA++, $34
Save: Neutrogena Healthy Defense® Oil-Free Sunblock Lotion SPF 45, $8.99
And that's it! Hopefully you don't wear more than the essentials above, winter sports are not really makeup-friendly... If you want, you can add a light cream blush, but you usually won't need it--your cheeks will turn pink naturally because of the cold!
What do you think of this post? Would you add another product or take one away? Tried any of the products I suggested? Let me know! :)
