My skincare routine

I used to have really bad skin. And I mean bad. Acne, blemishes, blackheads, you name it. But now strangers are telling me my skin 'glows', and they can't believe it's not genetic! I'm proud of how my skin is now--I wasn't always blessed with a smooth, clear complexion (but my mother was, darn!).

Twice a day (morning and night), I use the Clarisonic Mia (1) to help slough off dead skin cells. The device allows me to exfoliate my skin everyday. Yes, though some may think it's too harsh to perform microdermabrasion on your skin daily, the Clarisonic is gentle enough to use twice a day.

Along with the Clarisonic, I use Biotherm's Biopur Pore Reducer Gentle Purifying Gel (2). I don't use anything too harsh since I'm already using an exfoliating device. The gel cleanser is perfect for my oily/combo skin. I stay away from any cleanser with medication such as Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid. The simpler the cleanser, the better.

Although my skin stays clear most of the time, I still get a random pimple every once in a while. When that happens, I rely on The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil (3). I've used many creams before but they always seem to dry my skin. I'd wake up the next morning with a dry patch surrounding the pimple! It's worse when you have to hide a pimple and a dry spot... Anyway, I dab a small amount of the oil on the blemish immediately after I cleanse (after drying my face with a towel, of course). I use it both day and night.

When I do this in the morning, I always apply moisturizer with sunscreen content. I'm currently using Neutrogena's Oil Free Moisture with SPF 35 (4). I've been wearing sunscreen on my face since I was 16. Six and a half years later, I'm still using it religiously--I never leave the house without applying sunscreen, 365 days a year.

After my moisturizer/sunscreen, I apply a tiny amount of Vichy's Normaderm Triple Action Anti-Acne Hydrating Lotion (5). It helps mattify my face prior to applying makeup. The salicylic acid keeps breakouts at bay.

For evenings, instead of my moisturizer/sunscreen, I use Pond's Dry Skin Cream (6). I like having something richer on my skin when I go to sleep, so when I wake up my skin feels smooth and supple.

And that's all I use! Should I post about my makeup routine next?
