Skincare Update

After a few months of using Biotherm's BioPur Pore Reducer Gentle Purifying Gel, I noticed I've been getting rough patches on my skin. My night moisturizer wasn't cutting it either, so I knew I had to look for new products. I know I used those products in my recent Clarisonic video, and my skin was still alright then. (Maybe they got camera shy and decided to work against me?) Still, my skin was crying for a change.

I decided to buy Clarins's Gentle Foaming Cleanser for Combination or Oily Skin. I've read great reviews about Clarins's cleanser line. I was actually supposed to buy the Normal or Combination Skin type but for some reason I picked up the wrong box. But, no regrets, I'll be keeping this one. I use this cleanser with my Clarisonic Mia.

Another thing I've changed about my skincare routine is my daily moisturizer. I used to alternate between three: Pond's Dry Skin Cream, Biotherm Aquasource Skin Perfection, and Neutrogena Anti-Oxidant Moisture Night. It would depend how my skin was that evening and I'd choose between the three.

Now I don't have to choose. Meet my new skincare gem, Josie Maran's 100% Pure Argan Oil. You can use the oil everywhere--head to toe. When I used to have dry patches on my face (immediately prior to this skincare change), I'd use five drops. Now that my skin is back to normal, I use three to four drops. It really is amazing. If you think putting oil on an already breakout prone face will make it worse, trust me, it's a myth. Your skin won't be producing as much oil because your skin is already moisturized by the Argan oil.

So basically, in a matter of about a week and a half, the dry patches are completely gone. And I mean totally gone, as if they were never there. I don't even know why I got the dry patches in the first place!

Bottom line is, if your moisturizer's not working for your dry skin, take a look at your cleanser, it might be the culprit. My skin was just thirsting for moisture, and my past products weren't cutting it.

In case you were wondering, here's what I now use on a daily basis (in this order):
1. Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser for Combination or Oily Skin (day and night)
2. Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil (day and night)
3. Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture SPF 35 (day only)

  2. Love Josie Maran's Argan Oil. I use it mostly for my hair, but you're right about the dry patches (totally helps!). Not sure how I'd feel about using it on a daily basis though, I love my current moisturizer too much! :)

  3. Hey Nona!

I think Josie Maran's Argan Oil is my new holy grail of moisturizers. Though I must say I'm curious about your current moisturizer! Which one do you use?

  4. I have problems with dry patches too - I've been wanting to try Josie Maran's Argan Oil for so long! Too bad I wasn't going to the Black Friday sale at Sephora - that would be crazy if this was on sale for $12!!
